NovoNote is designed to work across devices, including mobile phones and iPads. Because mobile devices have certain multitasking and audio limitations, following a few simple tips will help ensure the best recording and transcription experience.
Recommended Best Practices
1. Enable Do Not Disturb (DND)
Incoming calls or notifications during a session may interrupt the recording on NovoNote.
✅ Tip: Enable the Do Not Disturb mode on your device before starting a session.
2. Keep NovoNote in the Foreground
When an app is running in the background, mobile operating systems may affect microphone access.
✅ Tip: Keep NovoNote as the active app throughout your session.
❌ Avoid: Switching to other apps (e.g. to check notes, email, or a browser) while recording is in progress, as this may interrupt the session recording.
3. Prevent Device from Sleeping/Screen Inactivity
If your device goes to sleep or the screen locks, the recording may stop.
✅ Tips: Before your session:
Set your screen timeout to the maximum duration (or temporarily set it to “Never”).
- Plug your device into a charger to avoid low battery or power-saving interruptions.
4. Multitasking Limitations on iPad
Switching to another app/program on iPad (e.g. to taking notes in another app) can affect/disrupt the recording.
✅ Tip: For the best experience, keep NovoNote in full screen and avoid multitasking during the session.
Alternative Recording Method
If you continue to experience interruptions or failed transcriptions on your mobile phone/iPad,
try this workaround:
Record your session using your device’s Voice Memo or built-in recording app.
After the session, upload the audio file into NovoNote for transcription.
User Guide: Uploading Audio to Generate A Transcription
This approach ensures the audio recording is preserved even if the app or device encounters issues during live recording.
We’re continually working on improving how NovoNote handles screen timeout, device sleep interruptions, and other mobile-related limitations outlined above to ensure an optimal recording experience. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, feel free to email us at info@novopsych.com.
