Effective clinical documentation is essential for tracking client progress, ensuring continuity of care, and facilitating informed decision-making. However, mental health practitioners often face challenges in consolidating insights from multiple sessions into a single, structured document.


To address this, NovoNote has introduced a new feature that will allow practitioners to generate a single, comprehensive document from multiple sessions - streamlining documentation and enhancing clinical insights.


Why Is a Consolidated Note Important?

A well-structured, comprehensive note serves several key functions:

  • Improved Continuity of Care: Ensures that all relevant details from past sessions are easily accessible for future treatment planning.

  • Enhanced Clinical Insights: Helps identify trends, patterns, and significant changes in the patient’s condition.

  • Efficiency in Documentation: Reduces redundancy by summarising key points from multiple sessions in a structured manner.

  • Legal and Ethical Considerations: Provides a thorough record of patient interactions, which may be necessary for compliance and legal documentation.




Steps to Generate a Comprehensive Document from Multiple Sessions:


1. Select a Client

  • Ensure the client has several sessions available in NovoNote.




2. Click "Create Document"

  • Navigate to the "Create Document" option to start a new document.



3. Select Session Notes

  • Choose the relevant session notes you’d like to include in the document.
  • (Optional): You can also choose to include session transcripts (if available) 



4. Choose a Template

  • Select a pre-existing template to structure your document.



5. (Optional) Include Additional Context / Include Psychometric Results

  • Include Additional Context: Add any relevant clinical insights, observations, or explanations to complement the session notes.

  • Include Psychometric Results: If the client has psychometric assessment results in NovoPsych, you can include those in the document as well. (Refer to this guide for more information)




6. Click "Generate Document"

  • Once all content and options are selected, click the "Generate Document" button to create the comprehensive document.



By following these steps, you can easily generate comprehensive documents by selecting relevant session notes and using selected templates. This streamlined process ensures that your documentation is organised and efficient, saving you time while maintaining the accuracy and clarity of your clinical records.
